“The ‘Art of Regeneration?’ is a new #exhibition looking at the changing environmental and economic fortunes of #treforest and the #southwalesvalleys . Artists Nichola Goff, Shaz Magill and Natalia Dias have worked with a variety of local community organisations to voice their experience of the changing landscape and their hopes for the future. The exhibition includes artworks from the University of South Wales Permanent Collection that reflect the scars of the industrial past and interactive elements by students studying Games Design.”

Wales in Oita - OPAM Museum - Japan

The Rugby World Cup 2019 Japan will be held from September 20th to November 2rd in Japan, and Oita as one of the venues. " Wales × Oita Friendship Exchange - The Art of Wales Exhibition in Oita " will held at Oita Prefectural Art Museum (OPAM) from 27th September to 27th October. The exhibition aims to enhance the friendship exchange between Oita and Wales during the Rugby World Cup Japan 2019™.
Wales is known not only as a rugby powerful team, but also as the ‘King Arthur's legend’ depicting a British medieval hero and a stage for the novel ‘Alice in Wonderland’ written by Lewis Carroll.
Works created by 13 artists will be exhibited. Julia Brooker, an acrylic painter, who works worldwide for example Europe, Hong Kong, Japan and so on. Chris Bird-Jones and Amber Hiscott, who work extensively on works of Glass Art and Public Art. Ten artists from Fireworks Clay Studio are exhibiting their unique ceramics. The museum's collections belong to everyone, but only a small number of people normally make decisions about what is collected and how it is displayed.

Is this fair?

Who Decides? is curated by service users from The Wallich, a charity supporting people who have experienced homelessness in Wales.

Contemporary Art for Everybody

The art work in Who Decides? has been selected from the large collection of paintings, sculptures, films, prints and drawings that the Museum and the Derek Williams Trust have acquired over the last 10 years.

Featured artists: Alexander Adams, Frank Auerbach, Richard Billingham, Peter Blake, Frank Bowling, Mark Boyle & Joan Hills, Paul Brewer, Andrea Büttner, Anthony Caro, Claudi Casanovas, Olga Chernysheva, Hans Coper, Alan Davie, Richard Deacon, Natalia Dias, Elena Elgina & Igor Makarevich, Geraint Evans, Laura Ford, David Garner, Merlin James, Andrew Levitas, Richard Long, John Meirion Morris, Dan Rees, Paula Rego, Lucie Rie, Shani Rhys James, Terry Setch, George Shaw, Anthony Stokes, Bedwyr Williams, Bill Woodrow and Clare Woods.

The exhibition also features an installation of over 70 ceramic works from the private collection of the gallery owner Anita Besson (1933-2015). This outstanding collection, bequeathed to the Derek Williams Trust in 2016, features work by 13 makers including Lucie Rie, Hans Coper, Ryoji Koie and Claudi Casanovas and will be displayed together in the exhibition for the first time.

Who Decides? celebrates 10 years of contemporary collecting and the 25 year partnership between Amgueddfa Cymru - National Museum Wales and the Derek Williams Trust. Since 1992 The Trust has been central to the development of one of the UK’s outstanding collections modern and contemporary art.

- Fifty years of Llantarnam Grange Arts Centre

Since its founding in 1966 Llantarnam Grange Arts Centre has hosted over five hundred exhibitions and featured work from literally thousands of fine and applied artists. This special 50th anniversary exhibition presents  a selection of work, old and new  from thirty of the most influential artists whose work has been exhibited at the centre.
